NEED AWARENESS
- The need arises when individuals are spending to much money on gas for their current cars.- Also, when people are looking to upgrade to another car that is eco-friendly, and they are able to get more benefits/incentives out of having an electric car.
INFORMATION SEARCH
- When someone recognizes their need for an electric car the majority of the time they are going to do their initial search online followed by getting information from family and friends, and finally by going to a dealership.FINDINGS
I learned that once a situation effects an individual personally rather that is financially or emotionally that they are going to realize that they need to have an alternative to the current situation, therefore, creating a need for something new that can provide a solution. Also, if a person is personally aware of a better alternative then they are more likely to do some further research to see how they have benefit from it.
CONCLUSIONS
In sum, I believe that once people become aware of a need, such as having an electric car over a traditional gasoline car that they are going to figure out the pros and cons of obtaining an electric car for their personal situation. Once, this happens they are move to researching as much information about this product that they can from a variety of sources to see if this is the direction they should continue to move in.

ReplyDeleteI think people are still hesitate of the idea because it has not been widely accepted, YET! Your findings were really great! I think that it plays true for most of the population in the U.S. We do not realize the need for something like this until it affects us. So, if you can provide solutions to the alternatives and make it easier for us to use the alternatives, you have a great plan! Good job!

ReplyDeleteI think you're right also. Gasoline cars are the norm right now. However, more and more information is coming out about the impact of emissions on the environment. I was in Nashville this past weekend and on the signs along the highway it stated "air quality alert: tomorrow." Those people are personally being effected by the pollution and I think (like you said) once it starts to effect people personally they'll start looking at the alternatives more. Great idea!
Hey Patrick! I think your idea is going to be awesome as well, once people recognize the benefits and importance of helping the environment. So many people drive around in a gas car because that is what everyone else does. The emergence of electric cars is so new but as soon as more people start responding to the car, more people will latch on. I think this is a great idea that will really help the environment.

ReplyDeleteI think Interview 2 gave some excellent information by including how Tesla is planning to put more cars on the market. It is beneficial to the environment and will probably lead to the obsolescence of gas cars eventually. Being proactive with this venture will have profound benefits on society as a whole which usually always leads to a profit for the people who really push the agenda. Even interview 3 stated her family is not big on electric cars but she is. If she gets one her family will see the benefits and probably purchase one which would lead to the need for more charging stations.
I think a lot of people have the need for electric cars, even though it may not feel like it now with gas prices being low recently. However most people don't have the awareness because the market for electric cars is so much smaller than gas powered. When looking at people who do own electric cars though, I think almost all would be aware that there is a need for more charging stations.

ReplyDeleteI was hoping someone would mention Tesla's new model that starts under $40000. It is what consumers have been clamoring for since Tesla Motors opens its doors and I believe that it is going to be revolutionary, as it is affordable and attractive. Seeing interest in environmental issues is really encouraging and Elon Musk has certainly led the way in this regard.

ReplyDeleteI think that starting something like this BEFORE the market is at its prime could actually help to get the market going. Electric cars are still a relatively new thing, and I think a lot of people are reluctant to switch because the cost to switch is expensive and because there are not enough charging stations available for them to charge the car even if they did get one. A complete market switch to electric will take time, but now is definitely the time to capitalize on this future trend!

ReplyDeleteI love this because I am super cautious about the environment and its nice to know that there someone out there with ideas that want to help the environment. I do also think that this idea will help bring electric cars more into the market. Electric cars from what I have seen have been gaining a lot more attention recently. The one car that stands out to me is the Tesla if you add something to the car to make it worth the little bit of hassle you have to go through people will come.

ReplyDeleteThe fact that electric cars are still relatively new makes this concept very easy to brush off but electric cars are the future no matter what. We eventually will run out of resources to propel our gasoline cars and with newer electric cars from Tesla becoming much cheaper, there is a future in this. Rather than starting to build charging stations here in Gainesville, it might be better to build them out in LA or on the outskirts of LA since Elon Musk will properly take it off the market soon. They're seriously going to be our new "gas" stations and will have them every few blocks, maybe even less than that. Another possible venture could be quick portable charging station. Maybe you run out of "juice" and far away from the next station, you can use this to give you another couple of hours until you get to the next one.
